KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah will inaugurate Abi
lities Expo 2017 on 25 February 2017 at 10:30 am at Karachi Expo Centre.
This expo is being organized by Special Education Department, Government of Sindh in collaboration with Karachi Vocational Training Centre(KVTC).
?The idea of an Abi
lities Expo 2
017 came from the need to create a stronger, more effective platform for the largely marginalized disabled community of
Pakistan. This
annual event will be used to publicly voice and share their concerns, showcase their abi
lities and skills to the world, and find solutions readily available in
Pakistan to their various special needs.
Abi
lities Expo is a resource fair for Persons with Disabi
lities (PWDs) held
annually around the world in countries aiming to providing equal opportunities to everyone in the community leading to a more inclusive society. KVTC’s vision was to bring the same idea to
Pakistan and create a go to source for PWDs, providing abi
lities enhancing products and services, employment and partnership opportunities for PWDs, their families, caregivers, Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools, welfare organizations, health care professionals, and bridging the gap between services for PWDs in the public and private sector.
Disabled Persons Organizations (DPOs) in Sindh, corporate sector members,
Pakistan Air Force, and others have extended their cooperation to make this event a reality. Secretary Special Education Department Dr Zulfiqar Ali Shallwani has worked tirelessly with utmost devotion and dedication for Abi
lities Expo to take place, which is guaranteed to become
Pakistan’s largest unified resource platform for Persons with Disabi
lities (PWDs).This expo will finally be able to inspire the fragmented efforts of public and private organizations and create an effective & efficient support system for all PWDs across the nation.
