TALAGANG: P
akistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday said that resistance against corruption had now turned into a nationwide campaign and P
akistan would soon change for good.
He said that nation must rise against corruption. “The P
akistani nation has understood that the real problem of the country is corruption,&rdq
uo; Imran said while addressing a public gathering in Talagang, Chakwal district.
“Panamagate is a case of corruption as well as money laundering and unless this country is purged of corruption, we have no future,&rdq
uo; Imran said.
The PTI chairman
also accused the former President Asif Ali Zardari’s close aide Dr Asim Hussain of looting Rs 460 billion from the national exchequer. Similarly, he said, PPP lead
er Sharjeel Memon was invol
ved in the corruption of Rs 5 billion.
“If you want to compete in the next elections then be prepared because we will definitely question from where you got the $7 million in Switzerland. So Asif Zardari, maybe you should
also get yourself a Qatari prince. Even you will need one,&rdq
uo; Imran added.
He, however, said that “there are some people in the PPP who do not want corruption.”
The PTI chairman claimed he had overcome corruption in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and that this had resulted in an increased foreign investment in the province. Khan said that Indian PM Narendra Modi was not corrupt, but was fighting corruption in India.
He said that corruption and money laundering were P
akistan’s biggest issues. Khan said that people should question the source of money that had been used to purchase Surrey Palace. Referring to Sindh Police IG AD Khawaja’s transfer, Khan said that the officer had been transferred for attempting to hinder wrong practices.
“I just read with dismay that the AD Khawaja was relieved as the IG Sindh not because he was invol
ved in illegal activities, but because he was stopping others from committing illegal activities,” he said.
On Saturday, the government of Sindh had appointed Sardar Abdul Majeed as the acting Inspector General of Police for the province after relieving AD Khawaja from the post.
