LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday sentenced a man from Sarghoda to seven years in jail on child pornog
raphy charges.
The convict, Sadat Amin, was found guilty of being part of global child pornog
raphy racket. he was also handed a fine of Rs1.2 million.
It is the first-ever conviction in a child pornog
raphy plea in Pakistan.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had arrested Amin in April last year and seized more than 650,000 child pornog
raphy videos from his possession.
According to Assistant Director Cyber Crime FIA Asif Iqbal the convict, during th
e interrogation, confes
sed to being a part of a child pornog
raphy racket spread across Sweden, Italy, United States and United
Kingdom.
In 2016, Pakistan made the offense punishable with seven years in prison and a fine of Rs0.7 million.
